Weert's major church is the St. Martinus, a Gothic hall-church from the 15th and 16th century. The lower half of the tower dates from 1528-1529 and was built in a style that is closely related to Campine Gothicism. In 1887-1889 a new segment was added, designed by J. Kayser. In 1958-1960 the lantern was added, which was design by Th.G. Verlaan.
